ICE SC BINUS Hosts Civil Quest 2026
The Civil Engineering Student Community (ICE SC) of BINUS University successfully organized Civil Quest 2026, a series of competitions designed to encourage innovation, creativity, and technical excellence among aspiring civil engineers. The event featured two main competitions: the Building Information Modeling (BIM) Competition and the Integrated Bridge Engineering Competition (IBEC), providing participants with opportunities to apply their engineering knowledge to practical challenges.
Civil Quest 2026 aimed to promote the development of technical skills and introduce participants to the role of technology and innovation in the future of civil engineering. Through these competitions, participants were challenged to demonstrate their analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and creativity in developing effective engineering solutions.
Building Information Modeling (BIM) Competition
The BIM Competition provided a platform for participants to explore the application of digital technology in the construction industry. Participants were challenged to develop innovative BIM solutions and create efficient digital building models, demonstrating how Building Information Modeling can support improved planning, design coordination, and construction processes.
The competition highlighted the importance of digitalization in the development of modern infrastructure and encouraged participants to explore the potential of BIM in addressing challenges within the built environment.
Integrated Bridge Engineering Competition (IBEC)
Alongside the BIM Competition, IBEC challenged participants to apply their structural engineering knowledge through bridge design and analysis. Using balsa wood as the primary construction material, participants were required to design and build efficient bridge structures while considering structural performance and engineering principles.
The competition provided a hands-on learning experience, encouraging participants to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Through the design, analysis, and construction process, participants could further develop their understanding of structural behavior, material efficiency, and engineering problem-solving.
Competition Timeline and Awards
Both competitions opened early bird registration from June 8 to June 18, 2026, followed by the main registration period from June 18 to July 15, 2026. An online technical meeting was held on July 16, 2026, to provide participants with the necessary technical information and competition guidelines.
Participants were required to submit their respective projects by August 15, 2026. The IBEC Grand Final and Winner Awarding took place on September 25–26, 2026, while the BIM Competition Grand Final and Winner Awarding was scheduled for October 3, 2026.
Each competition offered prizes for the top three winners:
- First Place: Rp1,500,000, trophy, and certificate
- Second Place: Rp1,000,000, trophy, and certificate
- Third Place: Rp500,000, trophy, and certificate
The competitions also featured international juries, providing participants with opportunities to present their work and demonstrate their engineering capabilities in a competitive environment.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Civil Engineers
Through Civil Quest 2026, ICE SC BINUS sought to create an environment where students could explore engineering innovations, strengthen their technical competencies, and gain valuable experience in applying civil engineering concepts to real-world challenges.
By bringing together digital modeling and structural engineering, Civil Quest 2026 reflected the importance of combining technical knowledge, creativity, and practical problem-solving in preparing future engineers for the evolving construction and infrastructure industries.
ICE SC BINUS continues to support student development through initiatives that encourage academic excellence, collaboration, and innovation in civil engineering.
