Muhammad Hafiz Aslami S.T., M. Eng., PhD., faculty member of Civil Engineering at BINUS University, contributed to ICEED #9 on 27–28 August 2025 with two significant research presentations. The first paper, entitled “Comparison of Built-Up Index (BUI) Extraction Methods Using Satellite Imagery: A Case Study of Pondok Aren District, Indonesia,” examines the effectiveness of different BUI extraction methods in analyzing urban development patterns through remote sensing technology. This study provides valuable insights into the use of satellite imagery for urban planning, environmental monitoring, and sustainable development assessment in rapidly growing districts.

In addition, Dr. Hafiz presented “Variable-resolution DualSPHysics Modelling of a Perforated Wall Breakwater: Preliminary 2D Results.” This research focuses on the application of advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) using the DualSPHysics model to analyze wave interactions with perforated breakwater structures. The preliminary two-dimensional findings highlight the potential of variable-resolution modeling in enhancing coastal engineering design and improving the resilience of maritime infrastructure.
