On November 25th, the Department of Civil Engineering at BINUS University played a pivotal role in the 8th International Hydraulic Engineering Seminar (HEIS) held at the Tarumanegara University Auditorium. Attended by hundreds of participants from the industrial and academic sectors, this seminar, convened by the Indonesian Association of Hydraulic Engineering Experts (HATHI) biennially, serves the purpose of disseminating knowledge about hydraulic engineering among scholars and practitioners, both domestically and internationally. In 2023, the HEIS centered around the theme “Water Actions to Achieve Climate Resilience, Green Economy, and Sustainable Development.”

Distinguished figures graced this seminar, including Dr. Ir. M. Basuki Hadimuljono, M. Sc., the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, who delivered the opening address. Prof. Ir. Nizam, M. Sc., DIC., Ph.D., the Director General of the Ministry of Education and Culture, presented the keynote speech. Additionally, notable personalities such as Prof. Philippe Gourbesville, President of the International Association of Environmental and Water Engineering; Dr. Ich Hwan Ko from Yooshin Engineering Corporation in South Korea; and Dr. Jongchan Kim, Senior Manager at Korea Water Resources Corporation, were in attendance.

As contributors to the organizing committee of this prominent HATHI event, the Department of Civil Engineering seamlessly coordinated a series of integrated and vibrant activities. Faculty members specializing in water-related disciplines served as moderators, while laboratory assistants provided invaluable support during presentations and panel discussions.

The contributions made during this seminar serve to fortify the collaborative relationship between BINUS University and HATHI, paving the way for future cooperation.

May the realm of hydraulic engineering continue to progress for the betterment of Indonesia.
