The Challenge
Following the resounding success of the previous Structural Challenges, beginning in 2009, the Jakarta Local Association of ICE will hold the 10th Structural Challenge for teams of engineers who will compete for the Fred Goodwin Memorial Trophy, together with a cash prize of Rp1,000,000.
The challenge has been created by the ICE-JLA Committee Member Bob Scouller P.Eng; MIEAust. and is to construct a Barge Loading Conveyor Structure.

Materials and Programme and Scoring
 Satay sticks, paper clips, paper, cotton, elastic bands and drinking straws will all be provided at notional charge in adequate quantities and the “cost” recorded.
 Teams should assemble at 6.30pm, and will be given 30 minutes to study the problem. Following this, the time permitted for construction will be 90 minutes.
 Any applications for extension of time must be made directly to the Chairman.
 Scores will be determined using a formula which takes into account load carried, deflection, cost, weight and aesthetics.
