ABSTRACT: Ever since the introduction of Geosynthetics in Indonesia in the mid 1980s, it has been
widely accepted as one of the alternatives to solve problematic soils. It has been implemented for
earth retaining walls, slope stabilization, road embankments, foundation soils, road construction,
filtration, drainage, lining, etc. However, not much design guideline, especially in Indonesian
language, is available. In conjunction with the seminar on Road Construction in Indonesia with
Special Reference to the Role of Geosynthetics, this paper tries to discuss A Design Concept on The
 Application of Geosynthetics for Road Construction.
